Core Skills: Dialect coach / pianist
My career although quite diverse in nature, has always been performance-centred, whether it’s performance coaching for cinema, theatre, and opera – or performing myself as a concert pianist and collaborative artist. Right now, I’m coaching Felicity Jones for role in Star Wars. I’ve been coaching Felicity for over 4 years on various films (The Theory of Everything for which she was nominated for an Oscar, Inferno, Breath in, True Story, A Monster Calls, Autobahn – among other collaborations). The kind of coaching has varied film to film, ranging from Dialect Coaching, Vocal Coaching, Movement coaching, and over-all Performance Coaching.
I also have extensive experience coaching opera singers in the same way (the difference being the addition of a melody, and instead of the minute detail of coaching an actor for the screen, it’s expansive in nature – coaching a singer to sing and act according to how the audience will receive it 20-100 metres away). The singers I have coached sing regularly across the world (I was mentored for several years by Mirella Freni in Italy, coached Polina Pasztircz ak through her victory of the Geneva International Competition and the winner’s CD and tour around Europe, and many of my other clients sing around the world on stages including the Met). All of that experience has been in addition to my initial career as a concert pianist.
